Hello FRIENDS! I first became involved with the FRIENDS after long-term unemployment found me looking for something “fun” to do. I love books and love reading, so I thought what could be better than volunteering at the library to while away the hours…sounded fun to me! Well, I enjoyed the experience from the very first moment I stepped into the cavernous space known as 'The Basement', the space where the FRIENDS spend many hours sorting through all your generous donations and preparing for the big book sale in July. I have been volunteering with the FRIENDS for almost 3 years now and still find it to be an exciting and fulfilling adventure. Thankfully, full-time employment has resumed, but I still find time to spend hours in the cavernous space known as 'The Basement' sorting and boxing up all those treasures. Most importantly, though, is the knowledge that all those volunteer hours contribute towards the goal of raising money for the Library, enabling the purchase of needed materials as well as funding the marvelous programs offered by the Library.
